Stitch

These days I am trying different skills in stitching.Basically, I think most of the skills have been developed, it is a pretty hard task to create something that is surprising. Our job is to push these existed skills into another level with mixed media. Textile is no longer just a piece of fabric, it has combined different kind of materials such as plastic, tog etc. After editing this piece of fabric has become an unique piece of your own. 

I have been playing with glue gun in these few days. In the past, I have played this technique once. However, I don't think I did well in the past, I didn't push this skill into its limit. This time I am trying to push it forward!! 

I love how it works with the basic stitching. Nevertheless, I need to work out more variations and colours. 

Hot glue works quite well with yarn. With the binding, it's more attractive.

Today, I have my tutorial. She also thinks that I should push this technique forward in creating more variations, eg dyeing with fabric dye , sewing in , cut out. She reminds me my drawing is an inspiration, I don't have to too rely on it. I shouldn't focus too much on regular circle, I can be more abstract, more lines can be used. I am suggested to change the fabric. I also think that it is a bit distracting as it is too shiny under the light. So I have done some samples on different types for fabrics to figure out which can create the best effect. Since every types of fabric has different characteristic, I have to find the perfect one for my samples. After all the testing, polyester cotton is the best so far.

My favourite artist among all is Amanda Caines.

Her works are quite eco-friendly. Since in the previous Lecture I have heard from TED about recycling in Textile, now I am gathering ideas and informations from different artists. In her works, she has used some electricity wire from the old bicycles to create images for her neck pieces. Some of pieces are made of bones and wood that she found, I think she has created some dedicated necklaces with the materials that we never notice. 'Everything can be used, everything can be beautiful' Even trash an artist can use his/her creativity and turn it into a piece that everyone wanted.

Lazy pig recipe ~ smashed pumpkin

I think is quite nice , next time I m going to add massive of cheese !!!!!

These patterns are created from some shapes that I have found from my lace and replace them.

So far tons of patterns have been created, that's why instead of creating patterns from the general shape of objects, looking at detail parts is much easy to be developed. 

Winding and Wrapping workshop

Today, we have used winding and wrapping method to create our colour penal.

By considering, the theme of reflecting, shadowing, I have used foil, metal plate, mirror to create the reflection effect.
